Deputy, Justin Maxfield of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office gets behind a stolen vehicle. After activating his lights, the vehicle makes a right and continues for half a block before coming to a stop. The female driver is taken into custody. The Ford Ranger was being sold by an elderly couple in a town an hour away, and was stolen by a female who matches the drivers description. The woman took the vehicle for a test drive and never returned. The driver admits to having a crack cocaine problem and claims a guy let her borrow the Ford Ranger.
|Agency||Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office|
|Station/Area Command||Criminal Interdiction Unit|
|Why Law Enforcement||I had long aspired to be in law enforcement, originally wanting to go into a federal agency. I was fresh out of college and needed a job immediately when I was hired by my home town Sheriff’s Office. I fell in love with patrol work and 15 years later have no desire to work anywhere but in a patrol car everyday.|
|Best part of the job||My favorite part of the job is that no day is ever “routine”. I never know what to expect or how things are going to go, and I love that.|
|Hobbies||Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family (Mom, daughter, niece, and nephew), boxing, hiking, and exercising. I like to do things that not everyone can say they have done in their lives.|
|Favorite Quote||People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.|
