|Why Law Enforcement||I left the Air Force in early 2009 after an injury and decided to move my family home. I was in a local store when I met up with my old liaison Officer from High School. As it turns out he was now the Captain of the training and personnel division. We spoke for a few minutes and he gave me information about the testing process. I decided to give it a chance and have loved it ever since.|
|First Arrest||My first arrest was a warrant for no child support. My FTO (Field Training Officer) and I were sent on a theft from a vehicle report. As I was still very new to the streets my FTO was taking the main part of the report for demonstration purposes. While we were investigating the possible suspect came out of his apartment. I redirected him from the victims and started talking to him. While we were talking I checked his name for warrants and got a hit. Needless to say he was not very pleased that he was in handcuffs. But we were able to keep the arrest as civil as possible. That day showed me that you don’t always have to be heavy handed with an arrest, and that sometimes it can be “just one of those things.” The suspect talked to my FTO and I the entire way to jail, and it turned out to be a pretty pleasant event.|
|Best part of the job||I love the variety, I can go to the same call, on the same day, at the same time, and each one is drastically different. You hear in the movies and on television that there are “routine” calls, but there is no such thing. The excitement is almost a direct result of the variety of outcomes.|
|Hobbies||I like to play with my daughters and help with their science projects. I am an aspiring inventor, and love to make something out of junk whenever I can.|
